@RazorbackWTEN Prepares For Second Dual-Event Weekend

FAYETTEVILLE – For the second time in as many weeks, the University of Arkansas women’s tennis team takes part in a dual-event weekend, as select student-athletes head to the Colorado Invitational or Riviera/ITA All-American championships, Sept. 27-30.

"Both tournaments this week will be a solid challenge for our players," head coach Michael Hegarty said."Everyone competing will try to take steps forward from last week’s good start."

Yang Pang and Sarah McLean will represent the Razorbacks and travel to Pacific Palisades, Calif., for the 2013 Riviera/ITA All-American Championships. The All-American tournament marks one of the top-tier events of the fall season, showcasing the top collegiate players from across the country.

Beginning Saturday, McLean takes part in pre-qualifying singles action, while Pang gets underway with her qualifying action on Monday. The Razorback pair will also compete together in doubles play on Saturday.

Pang looks to build uponher successful debut lastweekend, as the sophomorewent 2-1 at the Little Rock Classic with wins over the ITA’s No. 6 newcomer/freshman, Despoina Vogasari of Houston, and No. 47 Hermon Brhane of Oklahoma.

With a notable performance of her own last weekend, McLean enters on the momentum of an upset victory over No. 66 Sarah Pham of Utah at the William & Mary Tribe Invitational. The junior from Miami finished 1-2 in singles play atWilliamsburg, Va., also competing with teammate Shannon Hudson in doubles play.

Kimberley – Ann Surin and Flavia Araujo head to Boulder, Colo., where the University of Colorado hosts its own four-team Colorado Invitational. The Buffaloes also welcome in Denver and SMU to the event.

Surin scored the biggest win of her Razorback career last weekend at the Little Rock Classic, defeating No. 61 Samantha Adams of Texas Tech, 2-6, 7-6, 6-4. The sophomore from Montreal, Canada, also teamed up with Araujo to go 2-1 in doubles play.

Competition at the Colorado Invitational begins Friday at 9 a.m., followed by the same start time for both singles and doubles play on Saturday and Sunday.
