FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — To say Arkansas sent its five seniors out in style in their final home game of the regular season would be an understatement. Behind a program SEC single-game record-tying 17 three-pointers, the Razorbacks picked up their sixth straight win with a 110-80 defeat of Ole Miss on Wednesday night in front of 15,962 fans at Bud Walton Arena.
Not only were the 17 three-pointers a program SEC record, but the 110 points is the most by an Arkansas club in an SEC game at Bud Walton Arena. To put the SEC home scoring record in perspective, the Razorbacks have scored 100 points 38 times at Bud Walton Arena compared to zero by its opponents.
The six-game SEC win streak is Arkansas’ longest since 1998, as it improves to 21-9 overall and 10-7 in the SEC to sit in a tie for fourth place in the league standings. The Razorbacks snapped a six-game skid against Ole Miss, dropping the Rebels to 17-13 and 8-9 in the SEC.
Although it was senior night, sophomore Anthlon Bell stole the show when he scored 14 points in a span of 2:53 in the first half en route to a career-high 23 points on 7-of-10 from three-point range. Bell’s 23 points came over just 12 minutes on the floor as he combined with fellow Memphis native senior Mardracus Wade to account for 12 of the team’s SEC record-tying 17 three-pointers. Wade finished right behind Bell with a season-high 18 points on 5-of-7 from three.
Arkansas trailed for a total of 17 seconds in the game, as it fell behind 17-16 with 11:27 to go in the first half before unleashing Bell and a 23-8 run that resulted in the home team leading by double-digits for the final 26:35 of the night. Bell accounted for 14 points during the run over the aforementioned 2:53 span, while reigning SEC Player of the Week Coty Clarke supplied five on his 13 points during the run.
Led by Bell’s 23 points, the Arkansas bench provided a staggering 71 points as junior Rashad Madden and redshirt junior Alandise Harris scored 14 and 13 points, respectively, off the pine. It marked the seventh time this season five players have reached double figures, the fourth time Arkansas has scored a 100 points and the third time the Arkansas bench has supplied at least 60 points.
Not to be lost in the three-point barrage was Arkansas’ season-high 27 assists on its 37 made field goals compared to just six turnovers. The 48 percent night from the field (37-77) was bested by the 17-of-30 performance beyond the arc and 19-of-20 performance at the free throw line.
Worthy Of A Hog Call (#WPS) Bell has earned the hashtag #BellinBunches over the last four games for his ability to score consecutive points for Arkansas. Midway through the first half, Bell was at it again, scoring 14 points in a span of 2:53 with a quartet of three-pointers and a runner during a 23-8 run for the Razorbacks. Bell has bested his career-high twice in the last four games, making 13-of-26 from three over that span.
