Regional test next for men?s cross

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 24 Arkansas Razorback men’s cross country will run at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships, Sat., Nov. 15. The men’s 10K race is set to go off at 10:45 a.m. CST at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco, Texas.

Each team can enter seven student-athletes for Saturday’s race. Head coach Chris Bucknam has yet to set the line up but potential entries include Lane Boyer, Michael Chinchar, Rick Elliott, Eric Fernandez, Daniel LaCava, Scott MacPherson, Alex McClary, Andy McClary and Duncan Phillips.

Competing at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships on Saturday are No. 24 Arkansas, Baylor, Lamar, LSU, Rice, Texas and No. 22 Texas A&M, among others.

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has Arkansas Razorback men’s cross country ranked No. 24 in its most recent poll, it was announced by the association Nov. 4. Among the South Central Region, Texas A&M is ranked No. 22.

Also released earlier this week were the USTFCCCA regional rankings. The Arkansas harriers are seated at No. 2 in the South Central Region behind No. 1 Texas A&M. Texas ranks third. The top-ranked SEC team in the region, LSU is the only other conference foe listed in the South Central region. The Tigers sit at No. 4.

The Razorbacks won the regional event in 2007 at their home course at Agri Park. The Hogs scored 37 points to take the titles. MacPherson is the lone returning Razorback who took home all-region honors. Running in their typical pack, the Arkansas harriers finished five scorers in the top 12, six runners in the top 31 and all seven Hogs in the top 45 of the 105 runners competing.
