Road test at SMU

FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas’ soccer team travels for the first time this season when the Razorbacks face SMU in Dallas on Sunday at 7 p.m.

Arkansas is 3-0-0 this year with all three games at Razorback Field in Fayetteville. The Razorbacks are coming off Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Missouri State.Arkansas did travel for an exhibition game, dropping a 2-0 decision at No. 5 Oklahoma State.

"I enjoy road games," head coach Colby Hale says. "You get away and have fewer distractions, and you bond as a team. It will be good."

Through three games, Arkansas has featured balance with four different Razorbacks scoring goals and six recording an assist. UA has attempted 51 shots with 23 on goal for a .451 shots on goal percentage. Defensively, Arkansas has allowed only 34 shots with 10 on goal for a .294 shots on goal percentage.

SMU leads the all-time series 10-2-0, including a 5-0-0 advantage in Dallas. Arkansas opened the season last year with a 2-1 home victory over the Mustangs.

Hale is familiar with SMU from his days in Conference USA at Central Florida.

"They are good," Hale says. "They have a new coach and they beat Missouri 4-0 in an exhibition game. Several of our players are from the Dallas area, so it’s an important game to them."

Arkansas has dropped its last two season-opening road games, at Kansas last year, 4-1, and at Stephen F. Austin in 2010, 2-1, but has won four of its last seven.
