Road tests continue at Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Arkansas volleyball team will close out its weekend with a Sunday afternoon meeting with the Georgia Bulldogs. First serve of the Southeastern Conference matchup is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. (CT) at the Ramsay Student Center on the UGA campus.

When they take the floor against Georgia, the Razorbacks will be looking to snap a six-match skid, their longest of the season. In its last outing, Arkansas (9-12, 3-8 SEC) dropped a straight-set decision to Auburn on the Tigers’ home court. Libero Brooke Fournier led the team with a match-high 12 digs. Janeliss Torres-Lopez tallied nine kills against Auburn.

The Razorbacks lead the all-time series with Georgia, 15-7, and have won eight of the 12 meeting in Athens, including a three-set road win last season. The two teams met in the 2010 SEC opener and the Razorbacks posted a five-set win at Barnhill Arena. In that match, Kendall Cleveland notched her first career double-double with 18 kills and 12 digs while Jasmine Norton added a match-high 24 kills. As a team, the Razorbacks hit .316 against UGA.

In its weekend opener, Georgia (11-11-, 3-8 SEC) pushed No. 17 LSU to five sets before eventually falling to the Tigers. Entering the weekend, the Bulldogs carried a .243 hitting percentage, the fourth-best figure in the conference. Individually, Valentina Gonzalez was second in the SEC with her .407 hitting percentage and Kathleen Gates was the No. 2 setter in the league with 10.37 assists per set.
