Robles, Terrell Begin Play In Fort Myers

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Arkansas men’s tennis team began play at the FGCU Fall Invite, as Austin Robles and Branch Terrell competed in doubles and singles matches against players from host Florida Gulf Coast on Friday.

Playing doubles together for the first time this fall, Robles and Terrell defeated the FGCU team of Oliver Landert and Austin Bates, 7-5. In singles play, Terrell lost to Landert, 6-1, 6-3, while Robles also came up short, falling to Bates, 6-3, 7-6.

“It was very windy here today, and I would have liked to see us adjust to the situation better,” head coach Andy Jackson said. “FGCU played better in singles, so give them credit for that. Austin gained some confidence by playing better in singles and doubles. Branch was very good in doubles as well.”

Robles and Terrell, representing Arkansas, will face Division II member Barry University on Saturday at 9 a.m. and then conclude the weekend against Florida Atlantic on Sunday at 9 a.m.
