FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas Athletic Department has hired Felecia Saine as its Director of Student-Athlete Academic Support and Achievement. In that capacity, Saine will work with the Razorback men’s basketball team as well as handle some of the administrative duties of Arkansas’ student-athlete academic progress.
"Felecia adds yet more experience to our academic support staff," Arkansas Associate Athletic Director for Academic Support Melissa Harwood-Rom said. "She has Arkansas roots as well as seven years with one of the storied basketball and academic programs: Georgetown. As director, Felecia will assume an important administrative role as well. Her addition to our staff will strengthen the support for our student-athletes."
A 1993 graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Saine received her Master’s degree in Education from Arkansas in 1998. During and after her time as a graduate student with the Razorbacks, Saine was an academic counselor for the football program before moving on to the men’s basketball program for three years. In 2004, Saine accepted a position as the Assistant to the Director of Athletics for Academics at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., where she spent the past seven years working with the Hoyas men’s basketball student-athletes and managers.
A native of Little Rock, Ark., Saine has participated in several forums and is an active member of numerous organizations. In 2002 she was a panelist for "Moving up the Ladder: Successful Women of Color in University Administration" at Arkansas and is a member of the National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics.
