Satterfield joins media relations staff

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas athletic media relations office has announced the addition of Derek Satterfield as assistant media relations director. In his role, Satterfield will work with the Razorback football team where he will assist in all aspects of the daily operation. He joins Arkansas with prior experience in the Southeastern Conference, Big Ten Conference and the National Football League.

Satterfield spent the 2008 season with the Indianapolis Colts of the NFL, which were led by head coach Tony Dungy and quarterback Peyton Manning. While there, his duties included working directly with players and coaches and assisting with media. He also assisted in the Colts’ press box on game days.

Beginning in January of 2009, Satterfield worked at Purdue as the main contact for women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and men’s and women’s tennis. The Boilermakers hosted the 2009 Big Ten Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships, 2010 Big Ten Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships, 2010 NCAA Zone C Diving Championships and 2010 NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships. Satterfield managed publicity for numerous student-athletes and coaches who received conference and national awards, including 2008 Olympian, David Boudia.

Satterfield served as an undergraduate assistant at Tennessee, working as the main contact for men’s track and field and cross country. He earned a bachelor’s in sport management from UT in 2008.
