Schmidt Named SEC Pitcher of the Week

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Nick Schmidt’s performance in a combined no-hit effort over Oklahoma State on Saturday afternoon at the Jaguar Invitational in Mobile, Ala., earned him SEC Pitcher of the Week honors the conference office announced on Monday.

Schmidt pitched six innings, holding the high-octane Oklahoma State offense hitless. He struck out six and walked three on 87 pitches. Brian McLelland and Devin Collis finished things off for Schmidt to complete the 12th no-hitter in school history.

Schmidt left the game after nearing his 90-pitch limit set by the Arkansas coaching staff prior to the game.

Florida’s Adam Davis was named the SEC Hitter of the Week, edging out the Razorbacks’ Jake Dugger.

Davis went 7 for 13 (.538) against Cincinnati with a home run and seven RBI in second-ranked Florida’s sweep of the Bearcats. Dugger also hit .538 (7 for 13) with two home runs, a double and four RBI as the Hogs swept through the Jaguar Invitational. He finished with a 1.077 slugging percentage and posted a .571 on-base percentage.

LSU’s Jarred Bogany was tabbed as the conference’s Freshman of the Week. The center fielder from Houston hit .727 (8 for 11) as the Tigers won two of three games against North Florida.

Arkansas will return to the diamond on Friday at 1 p.m. against No. 18 TCU in Edinburg, Texas.
