FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – University of Arkansas junior Kristin Seaton and senior Christina Lawrence teamed for 25 kills, 10 digs and six blocks but it was not enough to lead the Razorbacks against Georgia in Southeastern Conference action in Barnhill Arena Sunday. Arkansas (7-22, 4-15) fell in four sets to the Bulldogs (17-13, 10-9 SEC) 20-25, 10-25, 25-21, 17-25. The Razorbacks have one match remaining, hosting Ole Miss Saturday, Nov. 29, at 1:30 p.m. “We showed the team we can be in set three today and that’s all we’re going to think about and build on as we finish the season with Ole Miss next week,” said Arkansas head coach Robert Pulliza. “Kristin again had a great performance and that’s an exciting sign of where we’re going with the program in the coming seasons.” Lawrence lead all hitters with 16 kills and hit .333 with five blocks while Seaton added nine kills, hit .300 and had eight digs. Freshman Kellie Stipanovich had 11 kills and two blocks for Arkansas. Sophomore Mackeniza Rhea led the team with 15 digs and sophomore Heather Royal added 11 in the loss. The Razorbacks, however, were out-hit .324-.169 and out-dug 62-59 by the Bulldogs who had four players in double-figures. Arkansas played close in the first set, trailing 18-17 late in the frame but the Bulldogs rallied outscoring the Razorbacks six-three for the win. The second set saw a very flat Arkansas team take the court trailing big early. Arkansas was out-played .438-.077 in the frame scoring just 10 points. Despite being down two sets, Arkansas found some life in the third frame hitting .323 for the win. The set was close with seven tie scores and four lead changes before the Razorbacks could get the win. Arkansas lead by as many as five, 17-12, and although they allowed the Bulldogs a mini-run, were able to hold on for the win. But Georgia regained the momentum to start the fourth frame jumping out to a 6-2 lead and never looked back. The SEC schedule concludes this week as Arkansas hosts its final match against Ole Miss Saturday. The Razorbacks will celebrate Senior Day prior to the match honoring the accomplishments of seniors Lawrence, Yun Tang and Caira Dortch.
