SEBaseball.com ranks schedule #1 in SEC

FAYETTEVILLE – The publishers of SEBaseball.com, an online periodical dedicated to collegiate baseball, ranked Arkansas’ 2009 schedule the toughest in the Southeastern Conference. When examining the schedules of the 12 SEC teams, SEBaseball paid particular attention to the best midweek matchups and best non-SEC series.

“This is a great schedule for our fans,” Arkansas head coach Dave Van Horn said. “Nationally, our schedule is second to none. We spent some time on the road last year so that we could give the Razorback fans a great slate of games this season. This is just another confirmation that we have done the right thing for our fans that have been so supportive of us over the years.”

Along with its 30-game SEC slate, the Razorbacks are scheduled to play five games against opponents from the Big 12 including Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma; eight games against the Pac-10 (Arizona St., California, Washington St.) and 13 games against teams from other conferences.

SEBaseball identifies Arkansas’ series with Nebraska, Arizona St., Kansas, Oral Roberts, Oklahoma and Missouri St., as its best midweek games, a slate that is longer than all but one other SEC team. The article also notes the Razorbacks’ series with the Cal Golden Bears as the best non-SEC series on the schedule.

The November article by Mark Etheridge said ‘The midweek schedule gives crowds plenty to get excited about in addition to SEC weekends.’

Arkansas was ranked number one on the list of SEC schools followed by Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia rounding out the top five.

The Razorbacks open their 2009 slate at Baum Stadium against Washington St. on Feb. 20. For more information regarding Razorback baseball or University of Arkansas athletics please visit ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
