Sellout Crowd Awaits Arkansas Men's Basketball On Saturday

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Coming off a 20-point win on Tuesday night, Arkansas will return to the friendly confines of Bud Walton Arena on Saturday to a sellout crowd when it hosts Mississippi State at 3 p.m. All public tickets are sold out for the second time in SEC play while standing room only tickets are available to suite holders.

Suite holders interested in standing room only tickets should call 1-800-982-4647. Those tickets are not available to the public. There will be no single-game student or guest passes available.

Saturday is the first of three straight home games at Bud Walton Arena in which Arkansas will honor one of its program greats by hanging a tribute banner in the rafters. A three-time All-American and the 1979 Southwest Conference MVP, Sidney Moncrief will be recognized at halftime on Saturday. Moncrief is still the program’s all-time leading rebounder (1,015) and is second in career points (2,066). On Feb. 18 against Missouri, 1994 Final Four MVP Corliss Williamson will be honored while his coach and Naismith Hall of Fame member Nolan Richardson will be recognized against Texas A&M on Feb. 24.

Arkansas owns a 17-5 overall record and is part of a three-way tie for second place in the SEC at 6-3. Currently No. 23 in the latest ESPN RPI, the Razorbacks have posted a 13-1 record at Bud Walton Arena led by the SEC’s top scoring duo of sophomore Bobby Portis (17.7) and junior Michael Qualls (15.7). Portis is one of just eight players on the Midseason Watch List for the Wooden Award, Lute Olson Award and the Oscar Robertson Trophy.

Known for its ability to score, which has it ranked 12th in the nation in points per game (80.2), Arkansas has used its defense to win four of the last five games. For the first time in program history, the Razorbacks have held four straight SEC opponents to less than 65 points, giving up an average of 59 points over that span. It marks the first time since 1988 in Southwest Conference play that Arkansas has held four consecutive league opponents under 65 points.

Fans should allow a little extra time when commuting to Saturday’s game due to construction currently taking place on Stadium Drive. Traffic will not be able to turn on to Stadium Drive from Maple Street. Access to Lot 44 will be available from Razorback Road or Maple Street. Patrons may access Stadium Drive Parking Garage from the south only. Street closure and detour signs will be in place to help re-route traffic and flaggers also as needed.
