Several Razorbacks In Action On Friday

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas had several current and former Razorback women’s golfers in action on Friday.

#ProHogs Stacy Lewis and Gabriela Lopez along with incoming junior Dylan Kim are at the U.S. Women’s Open. #ProHogs Regina Plasencia and Victoria Vela along with current Razorback Jordy LaBarbera wrapped up play at the Texas Women’s Open at Rolling Hills Country Club in Arlington, Texas today.

Lewis fired back-to-back rounds of 71–71—142 at Trump National in Bedminster, New Jersey. Players endured a suspended first round, early tee times, and rain that was, at times, heavy, during Friday’s play.

Despite the distractions, Lewis rallied from a bogey and a double finishing with three birdies (four total for the round) on the back nine to stand tied for 14th after the cut.

Lopez opened strong with a round one 70 but was one of the many players who had to complete her first round today and return to the course for round two. She added an 81 for 151 and did not make the cut. Kim, a transfer who will join the Razorbacks this fall, also missed the cut shooting 71–81—152.

Plasencia finished third overall at the Energy Producers Inc. Texas Women’s Open. The former Razorback finished 3-under shooting 71–69–70—210, just two shots behind the medalist.

Rising senior LaBarbera of Allen, Texas, finished tied for ninth overall shooting 73–70-71—214 followed by recent graduate Summar Roachell who tied for 43rd with rounds of 76–72–75—223. Former Razorback Victoria Vela also took part in the event but missed the cut.
