Shean advances at U.S. Women's Amateur

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — University of Arkansas junior-to-be Kelli Shean has advanced to the 64-player match play segment of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Tuesday. The Cape Town, South Africa native, shot 148 with identical rounds of 74-74 to finish six-over on the par 71, 6,422-yard Old Warson Country Club course in St. Louis, Mo. Shean’s 148 was good to tie for 46th with just a handful of players remaining on the golf course. Shean begins match play Wednesday. Razorback senior-to-be Corinna Rees was also competing at the U.S. Women’s Amateur. Rees opened with a 79 and improved with a 77 Tuesday for a 156. The 14-over score had Rees tied for 116th with an opportunity to move up as several competitors still have to finish. The two rounds of stroke play will be followed by the low 64 scores moving on to match play with the champion determined by a 36-hole match play final.
