FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Sixteen Arkansas Razorback student-athletes have been named to the Southeastern Conference’s Freshman Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced this week.

Nine members of the baseball team are on the list along with four tennis players and three members of the track and field team.

Each student-athlete must 1) have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or above at the nominating institution; 2) be on scholarship or a letter winner; 3) have completed 24 semester hours of non-remedial credit at the nominating institution; and 4) have been a member of the varsity team for the sport’s entire NCAA Championship segment.

The 2007 SEC Freshmen Academic Honor Roll is based on grades from the 2006-07 academic calendar.

Baseball players on the list include pitcher Evan Cox (sociology), pitcher Scott Limbocker (civil engineering), pitcher Travis Moseley (general business), pitcher Sam Murphy (biology), pitcher/catcher Chad Pierce (math), pitcher Stephen Richards (business), infielder Tim Smalling (kinesiology), first baseman Murray Watts (management) and pitcher Brandon White (sociology).

That group helped the Razorbacks finish 43-21, win the Western Division title, reach the championship game of the conference tournament and play host to an NCAA Regional for the third time in four years.

From the tennis team, Dmitry Lebedev (business economics), Gabriel Mattos (kinesiology), Jorge Villanueva (kinesiology) and Dmitry Vlaskin (psychology) made the list.

Those four players combined to win 43 matches last year.

Members of the track and field team on the freshman honor roll are jumper Alain Bailey (marketing), sprinter Clemore Henry (kinesiology) and jumper Gary Jones (kinesiology).

They helped the Hogs win the SEC indoor title and finish seventh at the NCAA meet with Bailey earning All-America honors.
