Soccer Wraps Up Non-Con vs. Kansas on Thursday

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Razorbacks continue their four-match homestand with Kansas and Mississippi State visiting this week. First, the Jayhawks come in for a Thursday night contest on Sept. 17 at 6:30 p.m., then the Bulldogs are in Fayetteville on Sunday, Sept. 20 for an SEC Network broadcast match that beings at 12 noon.

WHAT’S AT STAKE?

With a win over Kansas, Arkansas would wrap up its non-conference schedule with a 4-2 record. The Razorbacks finish the regular season with 10 consecutive matches against conference opponents leading into the SEC Tournament, which begins on Nov. 2.

ARKANSAS QUICK KICKS

• Arkansas and Kansas last met in 2013, when the Razorbacks won 1-0. Ellenwood had the score and Carter had a five-save shutout.
• Out of their 13 goals scored, Arkansas has seven from open play, four from free kicks and two from corner kick opportunities.
• The match vs. Kansas will be the first of three on Thursday night for the Razorbacks this season. Thus far, all matches have been played on Friday or Sunday.

WHAT ABOUT THE VISITORS?

• The KU offense has been up and down thus far in the 2015 campaign, seeing multi-goal outings in three matches, but also being shutout in four of its outings.
• The Jayhawk defense has allowed at least one goal in each of its last six outings, with three of those being netted within the final 10 minutes of regulation or overtime.
• Kansas recently snapped a three-game losing streak with a thrilling 2-1 double overtime victory over the Colorado College Tigers Sunday.
• KU has outshot seven of its first eight opponents by an average margin of over four shots per match.

ATTENDANCE SOARING

• On August 23, 2015, a record crowd of 2,337 witnessed a 1-0 win over TCU at Razorback Field. That broke the previous record of 2,268 set in a 2-1 win over Oklahoma St. on August 24, 2014.
• Following the TCU match, head coach Colby Hale called it “one of the best atmospheres in the country,” while Kelley commented that “the crowd was a game changer for sure.”
• After averaging 981 fans per game in 2013, the Razorbacks attracted 1,359 supporters per contest in 2014. That equals an astounding 38.5-percent increase in average attendance.
• Those numbers were a 38.5-percent increase over 2013 and vaulted the Razorbacks up to 13th in the country for women’s soccer attendance.
