Soccer Starts 2016 Campaign With Spring Slate

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Razorback soccer returns to the pitch this spring with a five-game slate against three Power Five rivals and a match in Little Rock, Ark.

Arkansas is ready for a bounce-back campaign after a host of injuries to key players and nine close games decided by only one goal led to a 6-11-1 season.

“This spring will be very important for us as a team and individuals. We will revisit who we are and who we want to be,” said Arkansas soccer head coach Colby Hale. “We will look to deepen the imprint of what we are about and layer in some new ideas and concepts that will challenge us as a program.”

Prior to the 2015-16 season, the Razorbacks made consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament in 2013 and 2014, along with achieving its first back-to-back winning season since the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

“This time will be important for us to lay the foundation for our goals of winning the SEC and going to a Final Four,” Hale said. “Part of that will be testing ourselves against some top teams.”

Hale said he’s excited for his new squad, a “very balanced group” of seven seniors, a group of younger players who had promising rookie campaigns, and those returning to the roster who missed the previous season due to injury.

“This is our most challenging spring season schedule and based on what we’ve seen from our group, they are hungry to improve and compete.”
