Soccer arrives for preseason drills

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas Lady Razorback soccer team conducted their first day of preseason meetings on Tuesday morning culminating in a team dinner as it prepares for the 2006 season which starts on the field Wednesday.

A 10:00 a.m. meeting was the first thing on head coach Gordon Henderson’s agenda and he used the time to introduce his new players to their returning teammates and staff. He then allowed the 10 freshmen to pick their numbers for the upcoming season before ending the morning meeting with paperwork.

“Today is a day for everyone to get to know each other,” Arkansas head coach Gordon Henderson said. “We filled out a lot of paperwork and took care of the housekeeping duties that we need before the season starts. Tomorrow we get to focus on our conditioning and prepare for the upcoming season.”

Following the meeting, each of the 23 players on the Lady Razorback roster were ushered to both still and video photos for the Lady Razorbacks’ media guide and website, www.ladybacks.com, before the returning players assisted their new teammates in their move into the residence halls.

A brief lunch led to another team meeting at Lady’Back Field where players were issued their practice equipment and went over several team guidelines and dinner wrapped up the day’s events.

The Lady Razorbacks get to lace up their boots for the first time on Wednesday at 8:00 a.m. at Lady’Back Field for the first practice of the 2006 season. All Lady Razorback practices are open to the public. For more information about Lady Razorback soccer or about Arkansas women’s athletics, please go to www.ladybacks.com.
