FAYETTEVILLE — Former Lady Razorback and Birmingham-Southern assistant Aly Sartini has joined the University of Arkansas softball staff, head coach Jamie Pinkerton announced.
Sartini, a member of the inaugural Lady’Back softball team, helped lead Arkansas to three Southeastern Conference tournament appearances and an NCAA Regional berth during her career (1997-2000). In 1999, she was named to the SEC all-tournament team.
“Aly brings a solid background as alumni to the staff which will be very instrumental to early success,” said Pinkerton, “Her experience as a player in the SEC will help us recruit quality student-athletes.”
The Galt, Calif., native returns to Arkansas after three seasons with the Panthers. After her playing career, Sartini was a student assistant for two seasons.
As a player, Sartini saw action at three positions (second, shortstop and third) throughout her career and is ranked third all-time in assists. Her name is among the top of the record books for RBI, doubles, walks and at-bats in a game as well.
Sartini’s responsibilities include pitching, outfield, scouting, academics and assisting with administrative duties.
“I’ve known Aly throughout her coaching career and have always been impressed when playing against her,” added Pinkerton, “She always kept our offense off-balance and the games close.”
Her coaching career also includes stints with the California Grapettes Fast Pitch Organization and in several summer softball clinics and camps.
Sartini earned her bachelor’s degree in agriculture, food and life science with an emphasis in education, communication and technology from Arkansas in 2002 and is a member of NFCA and Arkansas Alumni Association.
