FAYETTEVILLE– Sophomore Linnea Ketcher joins University of Arkansas softball program according to head coach Mike Larabee.The West Jordan, Utah, native transfers to Arkansas after spending her freshman season as a starting outfielder for Weber State. She was one of two unanimous selections to the first team All-Pacific Coast Conference. She led the Wildcats with a .395 batting average, which ranked third in the conference and in hits with 49.Ketcher caught fire during conference play, breaking the record for stolen bases in a single game (4) and holding a batting average of .500 during conference play. She finished the season with a .395 batting average to lead the Wildcats. Her team-leading 18 stolen bases ranked second in the PCC.In addition, she was a member of the conference honor roll with a 3.94 grade point average in nursing.Ketcher was a four-year letterwinner and was named all-region three years for Copper Hills High in West Jordan, Utah. She was a three-year starter during her prep career and broke five state records including most consecutive hits with 10. Ketcher helped her club team, the Utah Red Hots to finish ninth at nationals in 2009.Ketcher is the daughter of Stan and Michelle Ketcher. Her grandfather, Jim Ketcher is a former professional baseball player. She is majoring in biology.Arkansas finished the 2010 season with a 28-29 overall record under the guidance of first-year head coach Mike Larabee. Fall competition for the Razorbacks begins with the alumni game on Sept. 18.
