Softball holds first practice Saturday

FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas softball team holds its first practice 10:30 a.m., Saturday,Aug. 26at Lady’Back Yard. According to head coach, Jamie Pinkerton, the Lady Razorbacks have had conditioning and weight training for the past week and are ready to set foot on the diamond. “The ladies are excited to get on the field after a week indoors,” said Pinkerton. “We as a coaching staff are also excited to see how our nine newcomers blend with the returners.” The Lady’Backs return a solid corps of players including eight sophomores, three juniors and one senior. Nine newcomers join the veterans. The second practice is scheduled for Monday at 2:00 p.m. and will continue to be held at that time on weekdays. Arkansas opens its fall season Sept. 10 with the Arkansas Fall Festival. The Lady’Backs face Crowder at 11:00 a.m., Seminole State at 3:00 p.m. and Bacone at 7:00 p.m. The Lady’Backs host two additional fall tournaments on Sept. 16 and Sept. 30. Arkansas plays Connors State, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and Neosho County on the 16th, and Carl Albert, Oklahoma Baptist and Rogers State on the 30th.
