Softball team members get academic recognition

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – A total of 208 University of Arkansas student-athletes earned grades at or above a 3.0 grade point average for the fall 2008 semester the Razorback Athletics Department announced recently. Nineteen members of the Razorback softball team were recognized for their academic achievements.Four softball student-athletes appeared on the Academic Champions list for recording a perfect 4.00 GPA during the fall. Seniors Hillary Freeman (communications); Amie Hubbard (elementary education); Kayla Johnson (psychology) and junior Jessica Bachkora (kinesiology) top the list of Razorback softball academic honorees.Brandy Baze (kinesiology); Becca Carden (kinesiology); Miranda Dixon (health science); Sandra Smith (kinesiology) and Westy Wynne (criminal justice) were members of the Athletic Director’s List which honors those with grades in the 3.50-3.99 range.The softball team placed ten on the Razorback Honor Roll (3.00-3.49). That list includes Amanda Caldwell (international business); Whitney Cloer (kinesiology); Brandy Foust (biology); Teighynne Hulsey (communications); Layne McGuirt (recreation); Tori Mort (kinesiology); Brittany Robision (kinesiology); Jessica Robision (kinesiology); Jessica Waddle (health science) and Lindsey Wells (international business).The list of 208 honorees included 28 football players, 25 swimmers and divers, 24 soccer players, 23 men’s track and field athletes, 20 members of the baseball team, 19 softball players, 17 women’s track and field team members, 11 athletes from volleyball, 10 from gymnastics, seven women’s golfers, six each from men’s and women’s tennis, five from women’s basketball, four from men’s basketball and three from men’s golf.In addition, the fall 2008 semester’s honors included 33 Razorback student-athletes with perfect 4.0 GPAs.For more information about Arkansas athletics, please log on to ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
