Spanberger Leads Way For Hogs In Summer Leagues
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Sophomore outfielder Chad Spanberger hasn’t slowed down his swing since the Razorback Baseball season ended and neither have some of his Arkansas teammates playing in various collegiate summer leagues.
Playing for the Conejo Oaks in the California Collegiate Summer Baseball League, Spanberger has blasted his way to the forefront offensively with a league-leading 10 home runs and 28 RBIs.
The Granite City, Illinois, native has been one of the Razorbacks’ best hitters in the summer leagues this year and it earned him All-Star status in the California Collegiate League. Spanberger even took home MVP honors after hitting a grand slam in the first inning, helping the South All-Stars win over the North All-Stars, 10-9.
Joining Spanberger, five other Hogs were named to All-Star rosters in their respective summer leagues. Pitcher Isaiah Campbell, a teammate of Spanberger on the Conejo squad earned a nod in the California Collegiate League; pitcher Michael Brawner earned a spot in the Texas Collegiate League; Anthony Dahl and Kacey Murphy each earned a spot in the Northwoods League All-Star Game and freshman pitcher Barrett Loseke held a spot in the Coastal Plains League.

QUICK HIT – Taccolini Joins Bourne in Cape Cod After Not Signing With Blue Jays
With the MLB signing deadline come and gone for 2016 draftees, junior pitcher Dominic Taccolini was one of many players that decided to not sign with the club that drafted them. Taccolini was taken in the 16th round of the MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays, but he decided to come back to school, saying he “wants another opportunity to win a national championship with Arkansas across my chest.”
Taccolini joined the Bourne Braves this summer and is one of two Razorbacks (Luke Bonfield) playing in the prestigious Cape Cod League.
