Spinella on community service team

FAYETTEVILLE – Redshirt freshman Ty Spinella of the University of Arkansas men’s golf team was named to the Southeastern Conference Community Service Team it was announced on Thursday by the league office in Birmingham, Ala.

Spinella has been a contributor to the Arkansas golf team’s efforts this season, playing in three tournaments and compiling a 74.67 stroke average with a low round of 71. The Aledo, Texas, native was a two-time winner on the AJGA circuit and was ranked in the top 50 in the Polo Junior Golf rankings prior to joining the Razorbacks.

"Ty is a good golfer and an even better person," Arkansas head coach Brad McMakin said. "He always does everything that we ask of him whether it’s come to course and practice or help out in the community. I look forward to seeing how he progresses over the summer and into next fall."

Spinella has been the men’s golf team’s representative to the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) for two years and is a regular at numerous community events organized by SAAC. He has also been a driving force for the men’s golf team as they compete for the Athletic Department’s Lee Spencer Cup which recognizes the Razorback team that earns distinction in the classroom, athletic competition, personal development and in the community.
