FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas volleyball team will close out its spring competition schedule Thursday with a road match against Missouri State. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Hammons Student Center in Springfield, Mo. The match is free and open to the public.
Last weekend, the Razorbacks took part in an exhibition match with the University of Texas at the Lone Star Classic national qualifier in Dallas. The two teams played five sets of volleyball at the Dallas Convention Center.
During the previous weekend, the team took part in a tournament hosted by Kansas State in Overland Park, Kan. Arkansas won six of eight sets played during the day with each player on the roster seeing action on the court. In addition to the Razorbacks and host Kansas State, the tournament field also featured the teams from Arkansas State, Kansas, Saint Louis and UMKC.
The match this week will mark the final of five spring competition dates for the Razorbacks. In addition to the team’s match against Texas and tournament action at the spring event hosted by Kansas State, Arkansas also hosted its annual alumni match and won a five-set match up against Kansas.
In addition to their spring schedule, the Razorbacks also hosted a March 12 clinic with Special Olympics Arkansas at Barnhill Arena. Along with the coaching staff and student-athletes, more than 130 adult and youth players participated in the event which included an exhibition match, volleyball clinic, lunch and autograph session.
