FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas volleyball team has announced its competition schedule for the 2011 spring semester. The Razorbacks are set to play five days during the month of April, including two home matches and a pair of tournaments.
The Razorbacks will open their spring schedule with two home dates at Barnhill Arena. In its first match, Arkansas will host Kansas on April 2. The following weekend, the Razorbacks will hold their annual alumni match. Times for both matches are still to be determined.
The tournament competitions begin April 16 with the spring tournament hosted by Kansas State in Overland Park, Kan., at Blue Valley West High School. In addition to Arkansas and the host Wildcats, the tournament field is scheduled to include Kansas, Missouri State, UMKC and Wichita State. The Razorbacks will then compete April 23 at the Lone Star Classic in Dallas.
Arkansas will close out its spring schedule with a road match in Springfield, Mo., against Missouri State. First serve between the regional opponents is scheduled for 7 p.m. on the Bears’ home court. The two teams faced during last year’s spring schedule with the Razorbacks coming away with a five-set victory in Fayetteville.
The Razorbacks will host a volleyball clinic for the Special Olympics this Saturday, March 12, at Barnhill Arena. Activities begin at 9:30 with registration and an inter-squad scrimmage. The clinic will follow the scrimmage and be capped with lunch and an autograph session.
