Stan Heath Press Conference – Lipscomb

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas plays host to Lipscomb at 7:05 p.m. Monday in a non-televised game. The Razorbacks are 8-1 following Saturday’s 102-50 victory over Prairie View A&M. Lipscomb comes in at 6-1. Following are a few quotes from head coach Stan Heath’s press conference.
“I don’t think this team is as easy as they may be perceived to be. After watching the tape of their Minnesota game, they remind me of a mosquito or fly. They bother you and will not go away. They are scrappy. We will have to defend hard and have patience on offense. They will run their offense and run their offense with patience. I think we are more talented, but that doesn’t matter if we don’t do the job on the court.
“I am interested in seeing how we respond. I want to see if a lopsided victory makes us think we’ve arrived.
“The teams they have played they have dominated. They don’t stall of offense. They wait for you to breakdown and get a good shot.”
“We need to bring pressure all game long. We can’t be sloppy and take ourselves out of position. It’s our identity and we need to use it early and effectively. It’s important for us to still play with intensity, with good defense and not rely on our height and size, and be lazy.”
“I thought Eric (Ferguson) played well (in the starting lineup). I like to set the tone defensively early and Eric is our best perimeter defender. I like having him out there. He also gives us two guys that can handle the ball. I do like the starting lineup we have right now, but Darian Townes is playing so well. If he can continue to dominate in the paint, we may look at getting him in the lineup. His defense needs to catch up to his offense, but he’s blocking shots and his defense has been good.”
