Stan Heath Press Conference Mexico Trip
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas concluded it’s two weeks of summer practice and trip to Mexico over the weekend. UA went 3-1 on the trip, losing to Belize Teane, 73-69, beating La Salle, 108-56, beating Belize in a rematch, 80-51, and beating La Salle again, 101-61. Following is a partial transcript of head coach Stan Heath’s press conference wrapping up the trip:

“It was a good trip for us. We packed a lot into a small amount of time. The players and coaches got a glimpse of what games and practices are like. We learned that the perimeter is our strength, and that we have a lot more strength and quickness. Our assist-to-turnover ratio (81-33) was really good. When you look at our guards, Charles Tatum (2) and Eric Ferguson (2), they didn’t turn the ball over that much. I’m really pleased with the progress of some of our older guys. Jonathon Modica, other than the first game when we were all concerned with the floor (slick from moisture), he was really aggressive. Billy Pharis was a steady influence. He plays good, sound basketball. It was good to see Charles back on the floor, Eric had some good moments of defensive pressure and Kendrick Davis had a hot hand at times. This year, we will have to pay more attention to fundamentals like blocking out. I think we will get more touches and deflections, which will lead to easy baskets.”
