FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas closed its season with a first-round loss to LSU in the SEC Tournament on March 13. The Razorbacks finished 9-19 overall and tied for fifth with Ole Miss in the Southeastern Conference’s Western Division at 4-12. Here is a partial transcript of head coach Stan Heath’s press conference in reviewing the year. “It seems unusual, not being in the NCAA Tournament, and it’s making me hungrier than ever to get back there. We will work hard to do that. Our players are off this week for spring break. When they come back, we’ll start lifting weights and doing some team-building exercises. “We had a few games where we didn’t play well this year, but we beat four teams that made the NCAA Tournament and had chances to win some others. Our freshmen really developed. As the season went on, Rashard Sullivan and Wenbos Mukubu came on at the end of the year. Jonathon Modica and Eric Ferguson had solid years. Kendrick Davis started strong, slowed down in the middle of the year and then came on again. “As for the seniors, it was hard to keep pushing buttons and keep them shooting for goals. It was a tough task. “Basketball is a game of momentum and challenges. You can look at any program and see two or three games a year where you just don’t have it, but you have the talent to overcome that. We didn’t have that luxury, but I think we got the most out of our players.
