Stan Heath Press Conference - Florida

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas travels to No. 3 Florida for a 6 p.m. (central) nationally televised game on Tuesday. The Razorbacks are 12-3 overall and 1-0 in the Southeastern Conference following Saturday’s 88-61 victory over No. 8 Alabama. Florida, the defending national champion, is 14-2 and 1-0 after Saturday’s 67-51 home win over Georgia. Following are comments from UA head coach Stan Heath regarding the Florida game.

“We get to enjoy this (the Alabama win) tonight, but then we have to come back and try to get things done in practice to take away some of the things Florida likes to do. Florida is the national champion. They are the best team in the country. The place is going to be packed. We have to play our game and be ready to play.”

Matching up with the Gators:

“Nobody has a great matchup with Florida, but we have some quickness and size. All of their guys are guys you have to worry about, but the guys that have killed us are Lee Humphrey and Taurean Green. We have to make it harder on those guys so they don’t find their range like they did the last time we played (in the SEC Tournament). I can tell you exactly what they did. They were 10-of-14 on threes, and most of those were around the NBA line.”

Back-to-back games against top 10 teams:

“Our guys knew, against Alabama, we had to play some of our best basketball. They also know, right now, we can’t have a letdown going to Florida.”

Keys to the game:

“We have to rebound, defend, make free throws and not turn the ball over. We can’t let them get on a big run. If they have runs, we have to shorten them up. On the road, you want to stay in the game and give yourself a chance at the end.”
