Stripling Boyer earn academic nods

FAYETTEVILLE – Senior Katie Stripling and junior Lane Boyer, members of the Arkansas Razorback women’s and men’s track and field teams, have been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Teams. Their names will now be placed on the ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America voting.

Indoors,Stripling finished third at the SEC Championships and fifth at the NCAA Championships in the pole vault. Her season-best clearance of 14-1.75 ranked No. 3 in the SEC and No. 6 in the NCAA. Outdoors, she broke her own school record at the Arkansas Twilight with a winning jump of 14-5.5. Her season-best clearance of 14-5.5 currently leads the SEC and ranks No. 2 in the NCAA. She is a four-time NCAA All-American, three-time SEC Champion and three-time All-SEC honoree. Stripling is a 2009 CoSIDA Academic All-American and All-District honoree.The Jonesboro, Ark. nativeis the Arkansas (14-5.5) and SEC Outdoor record holder (14-5.25).

At the 2010 SEC Indoor Championships,Boyer finished sixth in the 3,000 metersand seventh in the 5,000 meters. His season bests in the events rank No. 3 (8:00.25) and No. 8 (14:08.60) in the SEC. His outdoor best in the 10,000 meters(28:52.25 ) ranks No. 3 in the SEC and No. 15 in the NCAA. In cross country, he was eighth at the SEC Championships, earning All-SEC honors, and finished seventh at the NCAA Regional Championships, earning all-region honors.Boyer was Arkansas’ fourth runner at the NCAA Championships. The Fredonia, Kan. native is a three-time member of the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.

Arkansas will becompete nextat the NCAA Championships, in Eugene, Ore., June 9-12.
