Strode featured in ITA Spotlight

FAYETTEVILLE – University of Arkansas men’s tennis player, Blake Strode, who is currently ranked No. 18 in the country in singles, is featured in this week’s Intercollegiate Tennis Association Spotlight, a weekly question and answer feature with tennis players and coaches across the nation. Strode’s feature can be found on the ITAtennis.com website.

Strode was recently named a finalist for the NCAA Walter Byers Scholarship which recognizes the contributions of former NCAA Executive Director Walter Byers. Recipients of the award must have a 3.5 grade-point average (4.0 scale), demonstrate evidence of superior character and leadership and show that participation in athletics has been a positive influence on their personal and intellectual development. Two finalists, a male and a female, will be selected in April as recipients of this year’s scholarships.

On the court, Strode boasts 93 career victories, tying him with former Hog Jose Lambert for the sixth-most singles victories in Razorback history. This year, Strode achieved the highest ranking of his career at No. 13 and his 22 overall wins lead the team.

The Razorbacks (10-12, 2-8) are on the road this weekend at LSU for their final regular season match of the season. Match time is set for noon at the W.T. "Dub" Robinson Tennis Stadium.
