FAYETTEVILLE – The University of Arkansas football team took to Walker Pavilion Thursday to continue preparations for its matchup with Ohio State in the 77th Annual Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Jan. 4, 2011. The Razorbacks, ranked 8th in the final regular season AP poll, will bring a 10-2 (6-2, SEC) record to the Louisiana Superdome to face the No. 6 Buckeyes (11-1, 7-1 Big Ten) for the school’s first BCS bowl appearance.
Head coach Bobby Petrino addressed the media following the morning workouts, commenting that the Razorback team can put a full effort towards readying for the bowl game after a successful round of class finals.
"It’s good to be back out on the practice field," Coach Petrino said. "It seems like it’s been a long, long time. We’ve got finals over with. I think our players did a nice job working hard at them."
Coach Petrino noted that the methods for bowl preparation differ slightly with practice formats, but the Razorbacks’ overall focus remains the same. He explained that the UA squad plans to be at its most preparedness in New Orleans.
"Now we get to focus on Ohio State," Coach Petrino said. "It’s kind of a process you go through when you prepare for a bowl game. I think you have to be patient and not try to go all out right at the start. It’s a long time. We need to be ready on Jan. 4."
The UA-OSU game will air on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. For more information on Arkansas football, please visit ArkansasRazorbacks.com.
