Rob Scott - Women's Cross Country - Arkansas Razorbacks

Rob Scott

After a four-year playing career with the Razorbacks and three years of off-ice strength coaching, Assistant Coach Robert Scott joins the Hogs in an on-ice coaching role beginning with the 16-17 season.  Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Scott started playing hockey at the age of eight in the Tulsa Youth Hockey Association.  Scott played two seasons of junior hockey in the Western States Hockey League for the Tulsa Rampage.

As a player, he joined the Razorbacks in 2009 and played through 2013.  During the 2009-10 season, his first as an Ice Hog, Scott helped the team earn a regular season SECHC conference title, South Regional championship, and a trip to Nationals—all program firsts.  He also regularly appeared in the lineup throughout the team’s 27-7-1 record in 2010-11 and its 22-6-0 record in 2011-12.  Collectively, Scott’s teams won three conference titles, one regional championship, and made a National Tournament appearance.  On a personal note, he finished as the team leader in penalty minutes in the 2009-10 season.

Scott graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2013 with bachelor’s degree in science and education with an emphasis in kinesiology.  Following graduation, Scott was hired by the University of Arkansas athletic department as a Strength and Conditioning Coach.  He is in charge of women’s soccer, women’s cross country, and both men’s and women’s tennis.  His responsibilities include prescription of year-long training programs in and out of competition seasons, supervision of all athletes in the weight room, and education of athletes and coaches in proper exercise technique.  His teams have earned National Championships (women’s indoor & outdoor track and field), conference championships (three times in SEC cross country competition), and appeared in NCAA tournament play (women’s soccer and women’s tennis).

During the 2016-17, Scott will remain the program’s Head Strength Coach and will begin his first season as an on-ice Assistant Coach.
