Roland Liwag

Roland Liwag currently serves as Razorback Athletics’ content strategist as well as the communications contact for women’s soccer since joining the University of Arkansas on September 2015.

Liwag utilizes his 16 years’ experience in journalism, digital media, web development and communications to work on new, unique and engaging content for Razorback fans, coaches, staff, donors and the program’s more than 460 Division I student-athletes. Some of his recent work include first-person point of view features, photo essays, quantitative and analytics-based content, listicles and profiles on various Razorback coaches.

He also oversees editing of content posted on arkansasrazorbacks.com and provides the athletic department guidance on new technologies and in-house initiatives that yield cost savings and encourage process improvement.

Liwag joined the University of Arkansas after spending five years at the University of Miami School of Law in Coral Gables, Fla. as the associate director of digital communication and web development.

A native of the South Florida area, Liwag grew up in Miami, Fla. and attended the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications. He was one of the school’s first students to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a concentration in New Media.

Prior to his time in higher education, Liwag worked at several media companies, including CBSSports.com, the Gainesville Sun, the Tampa Tribune, TBO.com, WFLA Channel 8, Sun-Sentinel.com and SouthFlorida.com.

In addition to his current duties at Razorback Athletics, Liwag is pursuing an MBA at the Sam M. Walton College of Business. He expects to graduate in 2018.

His wife, Andra, serves as the Director of Communications at the J. William Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences.

They both reside in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with their two dogs, Pixel and Baxter.
