FAYETTEVILLE — The University of Arkansas swimming and diving team was recently named a Division I Scholar All-America Team for the fall semester by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America.
The Razorbacks achieved a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.45 in the fall, which tied for 11th in the country and ranked second in the Southeastern Conference.
"I am extremely proud of our team’s academic performance," said Arkansas head coach Jeff Poppell. "Our team GPA continues to be ranked among the top schools in the SEC, and in the country. Our student-athletes do a remarkable job in the classroom, and it is always nice to see them recognized for their efforts."
The Team Scholar All-American award is presented to teams which have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Arkansas trailed only South Carolina, which led the country with a 3.62 GPA, among SEC schools on the list. The Razorbacks have been ranked in the top 25 in team GPA each of the last five years under Coach Poppell.
