Swimming and Diving Fact Sheet #8

This WeekArkansas diving travels to Lexington, Ken., Feb. 2-4 for the diving portion of the Southeastern Conference Championships. The swimming portion of the SEC Championships will follow Feb. 7-10.
RecapThe Lady Razorbacks won their last regular season dual meet against Drury University 130-110 Saturday, Jan. 20.
Diving Leads the WayArkansas diving went 1-2-3 on both the one-meter and three-meter springboards to lead the Lady Razorback swimming and diving team to victory. Every Arkansas diver earned career-best scores on the three meter. Junior Brieanne Kushner scored a 329.40 to claim first place and write her name fifth in the Arkansas record book. Sophomore Madison Palmer finished second with a 316.05 and sophomore Kellyn Williams qualified for the zone meet in March with a score of 298.75. Palmer took top honors on the one meter with a score of 289.32, followed by Kushner with a 262.50 and Williams with a personal best 259.88.
Jackson Wins TwoSophomore Summer Jackson took two wins in the freestyle events. She touched in with a 24.08 in the 50 free and a season-best 52.10 in the 100 free. Her time in the 50 free was .05 seconds off of her season-best time and .27 seconds off of her personal-best time.
200 Freestyle Relay WinsArkansas won the last event of the meet, the 200 free relay. The team of Emily Gregory, Kristen Thibodeaux, Tifanie Silver and Jackson turned in a season-best time of 1:36.06.
More victoriesSenior Mariann Fulop won the 200 individual medley in 2:05.95 and Gregory finished first in the 100 butterfly with a 56.03.
Personal-Best TimesSophomore Elizabeth Engs turned in two personal-best times, one in the 200 IM and another in the 100 breast. Thibodeaux earned the best time of her career, placing second in the 500 free. She was .03 seconds off of her individual-best time in the 200 free where she finished second with a time of 1:53.05. Silver also earned a career-best time in the 100 free with a third-place finish in 53.09.
Top TimesAfter five meets, the Lady Razorbacks turned in 60 individual-best times.
Top FinishersSeveral Lady’Backs have two or more individual wins this season. Fulop enjoys 10 victories, Gregory has eight, Jackson has six, Thibodeaux and Kushner have five, and Palmer lays claim to three.
Kushner seventh and Palmer eighth on SEC Top Performers ListBrieanne Kushner ranks seventh on the SEC Women’s Top Performers List for three-meter diving with her score of 329.40 and Madison Palmer is eighth on the one meter with a 295.10.
Winning WaysArkansas finished the regular season 4-4 in dual meets, the most wins the program has seen since the 2002-03 season when the Lady’Backs finished 5-5.
2006 SEC ChampionshipsThe Lady’Backs finished ninth with 144 points at last year’s SEC Championships. LSU was the next closest team placing eighth with a score of 290.
2006 Diving RecapKushner led the diving squad at SECs last year with a 17th-place finish on the one-meter springboard and an 18th-place finish on the three-meter.
