Greetings from Delray Beach, Florida!
After an early start in chilly Fayetteville, the team has arrived in warm, cozy Delray Beach. Following check in at the hotels, the swimmers then headed out for a quick pool session while the divers performed a dryland workout. Little did we know, this would be no ordinary practice!
The team was divided into three pre-determined groups, with each team choosing a team name and colored bandana. The team names are the "Hefty Heifers," "Camo Toads," and the "Cheetah Girls." Nicole Menzel and I are co-captains of the "Cheetah Girls". Throughout the practice, we faced several challenges: the first was to recover a "hipen" teammate and perform a team cheer. The "Cheetah Girls" won the challenge and received bonus points for being the first team to recover their teammate. After some swimming and kicking, we gathered in the diving well for vertical kicking and perfecting our team cheer. To end, we performed the "Flying V," symbolic of our commitment to teamwork.
After having only spent a few hours in the beautiful city, the team is already excited and eager for the upcoming week. With the beach right around the corner and a thriving downtown calling our names, the girls and I can’t wait to get started! (Oh, and do some swimming too! ☺)
