Templin sets career best at U.S. Open

SEATTLE, Wash. — University of Arkansas sophomore Alison Templin broke a personal best time in the 800-meter freestyle Tuesday at the U.S. Open Swimming Championships in Seattle, Wash., taking nearly five seconds off her previous career best time and finishing 13th in 8:52.04. Templin, who will swim the 1500-meter free on Saturday, is representing the Razorback Aquatic Club at the U.S. Open.

Razorbacks Leah Pierce and Erin Neumann both swam in the 200-meter breaststroke event on Tuesday. Pierce, a member of the Columbia Swim Club, touched in with a time of 2:34.10 in 18th place and Neumann, representing the Parkway Swim Club, placed 27th in a time of 2:35.89.

Neumann and Pierce will each swim the 100-meter breast on Friday at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Club.
