FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Head coach Robert Cox and the tennis Hogs travel to Tulsa this weekend for the Tenth Annual Hurricane Men’s Tennis Invitational, where they have hopes of being successful as the team was in last weekend’s tournaments.
Freshmen Adrians Zguns and Hunter Benson advanced to the semi-finals in their respective tournaments, with Zguns playing in North Carolina and Benson in Kansas. This weekend, Cox has decided to take six competitors to the tournament making it a team event.
Making the trip this weekend are senior Aleksey Bubis, sophomores Kristofer Ivarsson and Talley Parker and a trio of freshmen in Adrians Zguns, Matt Roberts and Hunter Benson. Also playing in the Tulsa area this weekend is junior Nathan Price who will be taking part in a pro tournament.
Although this is an individual event, the Hogs should have some tough competition. Other participants in the tournament are Drake, Oklahoma, No. 48 Oklahoma State, Southwest Missouri State, No. 38 Tulane and No. 43 Tulsa. Arkansas finished with a No. 24 ranking at the end of last year.
All matches will be held at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center and play will start on Friday and last through Sunday with matches starting at 9 a.m. each day.
