Tennis Hogs Ranked 20th in Latest FILA Rankings

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas dropped four spots to No. 20 in this week’s FILA Intercollegiate Tennis Rankings released Tuesday by the ITA.

The Razorbacks (13-7, 4-4 SEC) were ranked 16th for two consecutive weeks prior to this week’s rankings, and the Hogs have been ranked in the top 20 for five straight weeks and in the top 50 for 10 consecutive polls.

Arkansas split their Southeastern Conference matches over the weekend, defeating then-No. 57 Mississippi St. on the road Friday before falling to No. 10 Ole Miss at home Sunday.

The Razorbacks are the fifth-highest ranked SEC team. Unbeaten Georgia is ranked No.1, with Ole Miss at No. 10, followed by Florida at No. 15, LSU at No. 16 and the Razorbacks at No. 20. Each member of the SEC is ranked in the FILA top-75.

Individually, the Hogs sport four of the nation’s top-125 players. Senior Adrians Zguns leads the way at No. 22, followed by classmates Matt Roberts and Rohan Gajjar at No. 57 and No. 94, respectively, with freshman Blake Strode rounding out the ranked quartet at No. 124. Strode and Zguns are also ranked in doubles at No. 44.

The 20th-ranked Razorbacks get back in action this Friday at No. 55 Auburn. The match is set for a 5 p.m. start. After Friday, the Hogs travel to No. 45 Alabama for a Sunday contest. The Sunday match is scheduled for a 1 p.m. first serve.
