Tennis Hogs Renew SEC Play This Weekend at Florida South Carolina

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark.. – Arkansas returns to Southeastern Conference action this weekend after a two-week hiatus from league play. The Hogs travel to Florida and South Carolina for a pair of matches.

The Razorbacks (7-13, 0-4 SEC) will be playing their 14th match of the season away from home this weekend. Arkansas is 4-10 away from home, including a win in their last outing, 5-2, against New Mexico St. in Las Vegas, Nev.

In the latest FILA/ITA rankings released Tuesday, Razorback sophomore Blake Strode was ranked 95th nationally in singles, while he and junior Colin Mascall are the nation’s 27th-ranked doubles duo.

Friday, the Hogs will take on 25th-ranked Florida at 1 p.m., central, in Gainesville, Fla. The Gators (7-4, 2-2) blanked 37th-ranked Miami (FL), 7-0, in their last match on March 13.

Florida boasts three nationally ranked singles players, including two players ranked in the top 20, according to the FILA/ITA rankings. Freshman Jesse Levine leads the Gators with a No. 4 national ranking, while junior Greg Ouellette is ranked 16th. Junior Nestor Briceno also checks in with a ranking of 118th. Ouellette and Levine also form the nation’s 6th-ranked doubles team.

Sunday, the Razorbacks head to Columbia, S.C. to face 55th-ranked South Carolina at noon at the Sam Daniel Tennis Complex. The Gamecocks (10-6, 1-3) outlasted UNLV, 4-3, in their previous outing March 15. USC is led by junior Yevgeny Supeko, the nation’s 117th-ranked player.
