Tennis Hogs to Open Home Slate with Tripleheader Tuesday

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – No. 30 Arkansas will begin the home portion of its 2007 tennis schedule Tuesday with a trio of matches set for the Dills Indoor Tennis Center in Fayetteville.

The Razorbacks (2-3) will play two against Cowley County Community College, at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively. The Hogs will then host regional rival Wichita St. for the nightcap beginning at 6 p.m.

UA is looking for its second win in a row. The Razorbacks cruised past Chicago St. in their last outing, 6-0, in Chicago.

Coach Robert Cox’s lineup will be headed by Blake Strode. The 57th-ranked sophomore is 12-4 on the season and 3-1 in dual matches. After Strode at No. 1, junior Colin Mascall is the likely choice at No. 2, where he is 2-2 in duals.

Strode and Mascall are likely to be joined in the lineup by Gabriel Mattos at No. 3, Dmitry Lebedev at No. 4, Andrei Nicoara at No. 5 and Dmitry Vlaskin at No. 6. Mattos, Lebedev and Vlaskin are freshmen, while Nicoara is the Hogs’ lone senior.

Other possibilities for the Hogs are freshmen Drew Sosebee and Jorge Villanueva.

Strode and Mascall team up to form the Razorbacks’ top doubles pair. The duo is 7-1 on the season, including a 3-0 mark in duals.

Each of the three matches will be played inside in the Dills Indoor Tennis Center across from Bud Walton Arena on Razorback Road. Live scoring will be available on Hogwired.com.
