Watts Cross Country Course
College Station, Texas
Women’s 6K – 9:15 a.m. CT
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The fifth-ranked Arkansas women’s cross country team will continue its postseason push Friday morning in College Station, Texas at the NCAA South Central Region Championships hosted by Texas A&M University.
“We’ve pretty much seen everyone in this region at some point this season,” head coach Lance Harter said. “Texas would be the next best challenger in the field. Texas A&M and SMU are going to put together a good showing, but we’ll be ready for a good race and a good challenge but we’re going to try to make it as team-oriented and controlled as possible. If somebody feels good and wants to challenge for the individual title that’s their prerogative, but this is going to be as controlled as possible with only eight days rest between the race and the cold awaiting us at the national championships in Wisconsin,” Harter finished.
Teams competing at the Regional Championships include: Abilene Christian, No. 5 Arkansas, Arkansas State, Little Rock, Baylor, Central Arkansas, Houston, Houston Baptist, Incarnate Word, Lamar, LSU, McNeese State, New Orleans, Nicholls State, North Texas, Northwestern State, Rice, Sam Houston, SMU, Stephen F. Austin, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas A&M-CC, TCU, Texas State, Tulane, UT-Arlington, UT-Rio Grande Valley, and UTSA.
Arkansas returns five All-region performers in Devin Clark, Sydney Brown, Abby Gray, Carina Viljoen, and Taylor Werner. The Razorbacks have won the team title for seven-consecutive years, having placed the top overall performer at the meet the last four seasons.
