@RazorbackWGolf Q&A With Gabriela LopezSopomore Gabriela Lopez, Mexico City, Mexico, finished runner up at this week’s SEC Championship. Catch up with her after the win here:

What did you think of the 2014 SEC Women’s Golf Championship and how you played?I think I did a good job this week. I committed to each shot and that was our game plan. I made a few silly mistakes out there on the par 5s but we did great as a team. I believe in this group, my team, and we have so many great individuals capable of winning every week. The support this week was awesome. We had so many people out here with us. I feel really blessed to be around these people.

What did you learn this weekend?I learned a lot. I think one of the things I learned was that you are never out of it. If you stay patient you will always be in contention to win the tournament. Every stroke, every shot counts and learning to be patient was a big lesson for me this week. I doubled one of the par 5s coming down the stretch and I said ‘well you know what? You have four more opportunities to make birdies’ I told myself to stay patient and I birdied the last hole to finish second. It was great.

What does it mean to you to finish second? It means a lot. My parents aren’t here but my team is here and all the people who came, they were key in helping me finish second. Even though my parents were not here they are always in my heart and I talked with them on the phone and felt their support. It was very emotional and I’m very excited.
