Welcome to Tuesday’s edition of The Daily Call!

Yesterday the city of Fayetteville celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Student-athletes @ArkRazorbacks were a huge part of the day’s festivities, participing in a number of campus-wide events. There was a breakfast event, activities at the U of A HPER, an MLK March down Dickson Street and an MLK Recommitment Banquet to cap off the day.

Grable No. 1, @RazorbackGYM No. 10 In Latest National Rankings

Senior All-American Katherine Grable is featured as the No. 1 overall gymnast in the country as @RazorbackGYM remains at the No. 10 spot in the Gyminfo rankings this week. Find all the details in the team’s most recent release here.

@RazorbackTF: Dominique scott named USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week

Dominique Scott was named National Athlete of the Week, as announced by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Monday. Scott helped No. 7 Arkansas take down top-ranked Texas Friday at the Arkansas vs. Texas Dual, earning the team’s first national award of the season.

Coming in with an indoor mile PR of 4:44.78, Scott finished the day with a 4:38.49 win for the 2014 collegiate lead by more than two seconds over The Bowerman Watch List member Laura Roesler of Oregon. The time ranks fifth-best in school history. Later in the meet, she ran the final leg of the distance medley relay team that finished in a collegiate-leading time of 11:25.58.

Jackson Earns Third SEC Freshman Of Week Honor

@RazorbackWBB forward Jessica Jackson earned Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week honors for the third time this season, the league office announced Monday. The freshman from Jacksonville, Ark., had a career week, scoring 55 points and grabbing 14 rebounds over the last two games. Jackson opened the week with a career-best 24 points, but then quickly topped herself with 31 points and 10 rebounds for her third career double-double in the team’s nail-biter win over Ole Miss on Sunday.

Anderson Named Preseason All-American

@RazorbackBSB second baseman Brian Anderson was named a second-team preseason All-American by Perfect Game yesterday. Anderson started 59 games last season and earned second-team All-SEC honors. He led the Razorbacks with a .325 batting average and also led the team with 47 runs scored, 68 hits, 12 doubles, five triples, 102 total bases, 41 walks, a .488 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .448.
