@RazorbackBSB Duo Taken on Day Two of the MLB Draft
The Arkansas baseball program saw two players taken on day two of the 2014 MLB Draft, as Brian Anderson was selected in the third round with the 76th overall pick by the Miami Marlins, while Chris Oliver was taken in the fourth round with the 112th overall pick by the Philadelphia Phillies.
A native of Edmond, Okla., Anderson played and started in all 65 games for the Razorbacks in 2014 and posted a .328 batting average with seven home runs, 14 doubles and 51 runs batted in. He was 9-for-11 in stolen bases and scored 39 runs, tallied 79 total hits and added three triples. Anderson’s 51 RBI led the team and he became the first Arkansas player since 2011 to reach the 50 RBI mark. He tallied 20 multi-hit games, recorded 12 multi-RBI contests and added a 13-game hitting streak during the year.
A native of Farmington, Ark., Oliver posted a 9-4 record as a starting pitcher for the Razorbacks in 2014. He had a 2.51 earned run average in 93.1 innings of work and added 59 strikeouts, while opponents hit .213 against the hard-throwing right hander. Oliver rose to the occasion against the best programs in the country in 2014, facing seven teams ranked in the top 25 in the country and posting a 5-1 record. He earned wins over No. 1 South Carolina, No. 8 LSU, No. 11 Vanderbilt and added two victories against Ole Miss when the Rebels were ranked in the top 10.
