SATURDAY LIVE RESULTS

SATURDAY LIVE STREAM (starting at 6 p.m.)

#EuroHogs Update During Arkansas’ two-week stay in Europe, one student-athlete will be featured each day in a feature titled #13Days13Razorbacks. Each daily feature will include a player Q&A and be linked to the team’s #EuroHogs page on ArkansasRazorbacks.com. Day 11 (Friday, May 30): Sophomore OPP Barbara Dapic This is the 11th feature in a series titled #13Days13Razorbacks in which one volleyball student-athlete per day will be highlighted during the team’s two-week European tour (May 20-June 1). Visit the #EuroHogs central page for continued coverage of Arkansas’ four-country stay which includes stops in Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and the Czech Republic. Today’s feature highlights sophomore Barbara Dapic. Q: How did it feel being back home in Croatia with your teammates? Barbara Dapic: I don’t even know how to describe it. I had been waiting to see my family for six months. When I first got to America, I told my roommates that I wanted them to come to my place and they were planning to buy tickets but now everyone was there. It was perfect. It was too good to be true but it was true. Q: Was it strange playing against your old club team, OK Brda? Dapic: It was so strange to be on the other side of the court and shake their hands before the match. Then when I would make a mistake, they would joke that I was still playing for them. It was good though. There were a lot of people in the gym but when I was there, it was never like that. That was the most people I had seen for a (OK Brda) match Q: Other than being back home, what has been the highlight for you? Dapic: I think it would have to be the ropes course in Slovenia. My favorite part was the swinging. It was so fun. I had never done that before. Liz (Fortado) was in front of me and the first to go. I didn’t know she was going to go upside down so I was freaking out on the ground. So when I went up, I don’t even remember what happened. My brain just went blank. It was amazing and I would do it again. Q: What’s the biggest difference between volleyball in the United States and Europe? Dapic: Since I’ve played both styles, it was weird to be playing against a European team and think of it as different because that’s what I was used to before. It was interesting. In Europe, (players) don’t talk that much but we talk all the time. My friends on the other team would say ‘hey, you sound like those Americans.’ That was a big difference. Q: As an international student-athlete, what was the biggest adjustment for you over the past year? Dapic: I feel like my dad and old coach are more comfortable watching me play because I’m playing better and safer. Before when I would hit they might be nervous but now they are pretty sure I’m going to score. I’ve improved a lot overall. Also, everything in America is so different that I needed to be by myself to figure it out so I guess I could say I’m a little bit more responsible, too.
