Jeff Long To Chair College Football Playoff Selection Committee Arkansas Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long has been named the first chairman of the College Football Playoff Selection Committee, it was announced yesterday. The College Football Playoff will begin with the 2014-15 season. The 2015 semifinals will be played January 1, 2015 at the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl. The first national championship game will be played January 12, 2015 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Sam Irwin-Hill Honored Arkansas junior punter Sam Irwin-Hill was named SEC Special Teams Player of the Week yesterday after averaging 53.5 yards per punt with a long of 79 yards. His 79-yard punt is the longest in the SEC and tied for the second-longest in the NCAA this season and is the seventh-longest punt in school history. Read the full release here

Jonathan Williams Advances Sophomore running back Jonathan Williams’ 19-yard touchdown catch vs. No. 10 Texas A&M won the fan vote for the Week 5 GEICO Play of the Year and advances to the final. The fan vote for the Play of the Year finalists begins Nov. 4, with the winner being featured on GEICO presents: Best of College Football 2013, which airs on CBS prior to @RazorbackFB’s game at LSU on Nov. 29.

Cappelen, @RazorbackMGolf In Contention At Crooked Stick Intercollegiate Led by senior Sebastian Cappelen who finished Monday as the 36-hole leader, No. 12 @RazorbackMGolf climbed back into contention with a three-under 285 in Monday’s afternoon round at the Crooked Stick Intercollegiate hosted by Indiana. Cappelen, who birdie all eight of the par 5s he played on the day, holds a two-stroke lead on the 75-player individual leaderboard, while the Razorbacks enter Tuesday’s final round just six strokes out of the lead. @RazorbackMBB Open Practice Tonight! Fans can get their first look at the 2013-14 @RazorbackMBB squad on Tuesday when the team opens the doors to Bud Walton Arena at 4:30 p.m. for its open practice. The open practice will not only allow fans to see third-year head coach Mike Anderson and his brand of the #Fastest40 take the floor, but also test out available seats for this year’s season.
