The Final RoundArkansas opens play in the coveted eighth place position as the Razorbacks try to maintain or improve on their position to secure a spot in the 2011 NCAA Women’s Golf Championships later this month.
Today will be an interesting day. There are 10 teams within nine strokes in positions five through 14 in the field. The top eight teams from each of three NCAA Regional sites advance to this year’s National Championship hosted by Texas A&M at the Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas, May 17-21.
Freshman Emily Tubert leads the field by a stroke, a position she hopes to maintain for one more round.
Arkansas tees off today at 7 a.m. central/8 a.m. local time beginning with redshirt freshman Emma Lavy on the first tee. Temperatures are as warm as they have been all week, creeping just over 50 degrees but rain is in the forecast and scheduled to begin around 10 a.m. local time. It’s not as windy today either but that could change before the day is out.
Who let the Hogs out!
Arkansas is out of the gates with all five players having teed off. The starter gave all the players evacuation plans in case the weather turns bad and nearly everyone is wearing black Nike rain suits – it’s hard to tell who is who out there.
